"Well the first one decided that it would be too obvious if he was your secret keeper, so switched at the very last minute. He suggested someone who no one thought would be. You knew there was a traitor you just didn't know who.
"Everyone was so busy blaming one another as to who it was, they were too distracted to see the truth. Only the problem was when the bodys were found he was blamed and spent 12 years in Azkaban because no one knew about the switch" he replied, which would make sense. They were all so busy blaming one another that it just went right over their heads. Sure Severus couldn't stand Sirius, but no matter how much he hated him he didn't want to see him blamed for something he didn't do.
His younger self might, but the older him...well no. Sure Severus could be a down right jerk, espeically to Sirius and them, but as an adult he learned a lot from it all. It didn't mean he'd have to like Sirius, or even get along with him. Then again like that would ever happen.
"Are you sure you even wanna know?" he asked when Lily asked how he was treated. "I still cant belive that dumbeldore made him live there. I mean I understanding his reasonings for doing so, but he could have tried to figure out something different that could still work out. I mean come on Even Mcgongall told him not to leave Harry there. She was angry at him for it too" Severus replied.

She nodded, confused. She wasn't sure who he was talking about, not really. He had been there, she hadn't. Well, technically, if you lookd at his point of view, she had already been there. But that was in his time and they were going to change the future. She had to. She couldn't let it all fall the way it had as Severus described it. It all sounded so...dramatic.
"So...Sev, who were the Secret Keepers?" She asked.
She frowned, nodding her head. Twelve years in that horrible place? Lily was muggleborn; she didn't know all of the horros that normal born wizards would, so the place was undescriable and unimaginable compared to what she knew in the muggle justice system, It was one place she would never want to be. She didn't like the idea of an innocent person spending twelve long years there. That had to have been..no Lily didn't even want to think about that.
"I see..." Her voice trailed off. "I can't believe...twelve years...that's terrible Sev..." She shook her head. "How...how did they finally find out he was innocent, then?" She questioned.
Her heart skipped a beat; no make that two. Severus's words...well it sounded out right horrible. Her Harry; she already knew he had to have been wonderful. Hers. That was the one and only thing she wanted to keep the same..but she wasn't sure how to make it that way, since she didn't want to be with James. She frowned. Even McGonagall was against it. She took a deep breath and nodded her head.
"I want to know...I want to know what she did to him, Sev." She said.

When she asked who the secret keepers were he got a little quiet. "It was Black, but then he switched with Peter." He said kind of quietly, unsure if she'd hear him or not. When she asked how did they find him innocent. "Well see they didn't. Not right away anyway. He escaped on his own and spent 2 years on the run. It wasn't until after his cousin Bellatrix murdered him in the Department of Mysteries was his name cleared. When he was blamed no one could find Peter. He spent those 12 years as someone's pet rat" Severus explained.
"Well it wasn't good. First off they lied to him about how exactly you died. said it was in a car crash, when they very well knew the truth. He slept in a Cupboard under the stairs for the most of the first ten years of his life. It wasn't until after the letters started to arriving which was addressed as the Cupboard under the stairs, did they actually move him" Severus said starting to answer her question. He didn't like telling her this, but she wanted to know.
"They never called him by his name, instead they referred to him as Boy. Called him a freak. Oh and they thought that by not replying to the letter they would stop. Called Dumbeldore a crack pot old fool, and made the mistake of calling him that in front of Hagrid, Oh and they thought they could, and I quote 'Stomp the Magic out of him'" Severus said. He wasn't exactly sure what THAT meant, but he had heard it be said several times. Like you could honestly stomp the magic out of someone.

Her eyes widened at his explanation and when he was finished she only nodded her head at first, trying to mull through the information he'd given her. She was almost surprised he'd even told her, upon hearing the names of the Secret Keeper's, being as they were James's friends. That surprised her too. How could she put her trust into some of his friends? They were all crazy, weren't they? Of course, looking forward, her mind didn't seem to be in the right place anyway. She'd married James, afterall. What sane person would do that?
"I see..." She muttered shaking her head. "Why? How?" She sighed. "That's terrible. That...why did he turn bad? He seems so unlikely...he's the least like the rest of those Marauder's." She pointed out, shaking her head.
From the very first word spoken, Lily wanted to shut her brain off and play deaf, but she couldn't. Her sister. Was she really that nasty? Petunia? Did Lily being a witch really ruin her sister like that? To mistreat her own nephew because of something Lily was? That was so...horrible. Living in a cupboard. It had to be all Vernon! That idiot man she married. Why would her sister do that? True, they were mad at eachother, but still, it didn't make any sense, why?
How could anyone think they could rip the magic right out of someone? Sure those weren't his exact words, but that made no difference. She sighed. Why would her sister do that to an innocent kid? She could see why she would treat Lily like she did, but her son? Why couldn't she just treat him like her own? Not go to Hogwarts? How did it ever even happen. She looked up at Severus as he finally finished. Her sister had obviously become more stupid with age..much like herself. They really were sisters, weren't they?
"Why?" She whispered the word. "She's so...she's...such a git." She shook her head. "But...it's not going to happen this time." She said flatly. "He must have felt so much better at Hogwarts...poor kid. I wish he wouldn't have to stay with her." She added, shaking her head again.

"I'm not exactly sure" Severus replied when she asked him why he turned. "When he was cornered He said he didn't mean to, and he only did it because Voldemort would have killed him if he didn't, then Black yelled at him saying he would have died rather than betray you guys, when peter asked him what he would have done." Severus said explaining what happened when Peter and Sirius first met again after all those years.
"Though I think that was the key. He's so easily influenced that it was easy for Voldemort to convince him to change sides, and maybe his and the rest of the Marauder's friendship was on the rocks at the time. Who really knows" Severus said. He himself really didn't understand it. That seemed like the only thing that would really make any sense.
"Harry even saved his cousins life once, or well not life rather soul yet did she appreciate it? no she didn't" Severus said. "A bunch of dementors showed up in Surrey, and attacked them" He said. "Now HE was thankful, and HE may have started too see the error of his ways, but she didn't care one bit. In fact when Harry left the house shortly after his 17th birthday she didn't even say anything. She just gave him one of those looks" Severus said. Oh how he hated Petunia, and not because of that. He never liked her.
