The thing is, everything is great. Which just sucks. If everything is great, than everything is wonderful which means that Mel should be in a good mood, but she isn't and really doesn't plan to be anytime soon. The happiness factor was on a low, which means that others should stay far away.
Not only was she unhappy, but also irritated. The thing was; she had absolutely no idea why. Her eyes closed gently as she sat on the steps to the owlry. Her hands fell to her lap as she listened to the darkness. Mel should be in class, but she only went when she knew it counted. But going, doesn't mean that she'd listen.
Her thoughts tried to travel to more -sane- ones. Owls. Good thinking. She heard the squaks of the annoying animals from behind her and she grimaced. They had to be the most messy animals in the world- beside pigs. But that was also a stereotype. Mel let out a huff of air and pulled her legs to her chest; her skirt showing a reasonable bit of her underwear.
Mel rested her head on her knees. She actually wasn't sure what to think about, what to say or what to even think to think. Gosh this was confusing. She needed to breath, she needed to just leave her body and feel nothing for just a little bit of time, maybe then she would be at ease. Mel scratched an itch on her neck and sighed.
Her thoughts slowly found one of her favorite subjects; Regulus. She liked him-- she wouldn't tell anybody, especially not him. Mel hardly admits it to herself. She rolled her eyes at her own stupidity and pursed her lips. Mel sat up straight so her back hit the stones behind her and she sighed at the coolness of the touch.
Footsteps came from below and Mel looked down curiously. So much for a breather. An owl flew passed her and she stiffled a squeal. Mel blinked hard, once... twice... three times. Okay, she took a breath, "I'm alright." she barely whispered. The footsteps were closer now and she put on her 'mask' and waited for the person's arrival.

Lucius had been meaning to go up to the owlry for quite some time, but never really got around to it. He had always found the walk quite relaxing, a little sidetrack from the craziness that was life. He'd climb up the steps on occasion, just to reach the top and look out for a few minutes, and then head back down. This was the day he chose to take his little journey, not wanting to head into another one of Binn's excruciatingly boring History of Magic lessons. Normally he never met anyone along the way, especially during the day like this.
His feet tapped lightly over the stone steps as he climbed the steps to the owlry, the only sound in addition to the noises of the birds that he could already hear. He sighed, continuing up the stairs and trying to avoid the little messes that the owls liked to leave behind on the railings when they flew by. It was days like these that made him hate class even more, the days when his brain is already pumping to hard to think, none of which is working productively towards his studies and the sun was just bursting from the sky.
Lucius was barely paying attention to where he was going when he stumbled over a girl sitting on the steps ahead of him. "OH!" he slid back across the step to give her some more room. "Sorry... Uh M-melodie? Right?" he scratched his head awkwardly as he blushed slightly.

Melodie's eyes caought sight of a boy coming closer. From his robes he looked Slytherin-- though as he came closer she made out his face and realized that the boy was Lucious Malfoy. She sat up straight and readjusted her skirt. Her eyes were focused on him as he came closer-- unaware she was near. Melodie stayed silent as he approached, frozen in her uptight position.
He got really close and Mel backed up sufficiently. She jumped up a stair and put her arms up in a protective position, ducking her head positioning her eyes to the floor. She blinked twice before retreating from that position. She took a shakey breath and wrinkled her forehead, "Yeah." she said, biting her lip, "Um, are you okay?" she asked, hopelessly. Mel wasn't good at talking to people, mainly unaware of what she should say.

Lucius regained his composure quickly and with ease straightening his clothing and seeing that his hair was right, "Yes I am fine." he muttered more angrily at himself for his blunder. After a good few more awkward beats, he looked off to the owlry, deciding to actually start a conversation with another human being.
"So. What has brought you up here...? Aren't you suppose to be in class?" he leaned confidently against the stone behind him and covertly snuck a few looks down towards her skirt. A few was all he took, knowing she was probably sitting up here obsessing over some other kid.

Mel gave him a slight half-smile, "Well, I suppose that is a good thing then." she commented lamely but also with a hint of sarcasm. The sarcasm came naturally to her head, but she did edit it before actually allowing it to escape her mouth. It was a sad life that she couldn't be open with her forever lines of cleverness, but unfortunately her family just wouldn't condone it. She'd probably get shipped off on the next ship to America if she used sarcasm in her home. In fact, it seemed that if she spoke at all she'd be shipped off. So all-in-all, it really didn't matter, she thought happily.
Melodie looked around her and thought about his question, "Oh, am I?" she wondered aloud, she didn't really care if she missed it, she was just surprised that she'd wasted so much time. Or even, how that time flew by so fast! She rolled her eyes at Lucious' traveling looks not irritated, just used to it. Mel knew she could be eyecandy sometimes. That may seem like a cocky statement, but it was true. "I guess I just lost track of time." she told him, showing her lack of disappointment in herself.
