Melodie Riviera climbed the staircases. There were way too many steps in her opinion, and she came up here because of the fact that nobody else did. The stones felt hard under her feet as she ascended. Her shoes didn't make much noise but she could feel the pressure her foot exerted and it suprised her. Mel hadn't thought very much about how her legs moved, or she just hadn't payed very much attention.
She quietly rolled her eyes at her thoughts, as much as she wanted to be a healer and actually learn these things. Mel knew that she couldn't. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, "It doesn't matter." she told herself, and that was that. From then on it wouldn't, put what Mel didn't recognize was a new small hole where her heart is.
There weren't any classes and no real reason to come up to the seventh floor except for the dorms, but even then there couldn't be too much traffic. Mel finally got to the 6th floor, she saw somebody behind her so she turned down the 6th floor corridor.
Mel jumped into the passage to the 7th floor and ducked behind it, waiting for the person to pass, or never come. So, generally, she was waiting for nothing. She rolled her eyes at her behavior, for the second time today. "What's gotten into me?" she muttered to herself, and walked up the steps slowly. When she reached the top she opened to flap and her eyes flashed in surprise. Mel sighed, she had been waiting down there, of course that person would be up here.

The only real reason Lily would be caught traveling down the corridors of the seventh floor was because of it's lack of traffic. She needed some room to think and gather her thoughts together. She had her hands stuffed in her cloak's pockets, Her hair was down and it fell nicely over her thin shoulder blades. Her green eyes already had small purple marks; she was tired.
Lily's mind was full of the future. What Severus had told her...she attempted to shake the thoughts away. It was the reason for the purple marks and the reasons for the way she wandered around. She looked tired. She hadn't been getting enough sleep. She often felt dizzy, her mind was always buzzing and the hundreds of students talking and muttering didn't exactly help cheer her up or help her to think clearly.
But after the last hour of aimless walking, Lily began to get rather bored. She suddenly wanted to talk to someone. Anyone. She just knew she had to do something to get those horrible thoughts out of her already overrun head. But she didn't know what to do. She didn't want to be surrounded by people, and here was the only place she guessed would be peaceful enough. She sighed, shaking her head. She was being really silly, wasn't she? She should act more mature.
She paused at the end of one corridor. She pressed her back against the wall and closed her eyes for a few seconds. That's when she heard a noise and looked up, opening her eyes only to stare at a Slytherin girl who, she had to admit, was rather pretty. She smiled at the girl. Sure she was a Slytherin, and because of the issues at hand, she really hated Slytherins, but she was in the mood to talk and she thought this girl would do. Besides, she knew her. Sort of. She was the Slytherin Prefect, afterall.
"Hi..." She paused. "Melodie, right?" She asked.

Melodie looked over the girl and sighed. Lily Evans; the red hair, the 'i know everything attitude'. Of course it would be her; one of the only people--well, one of the people-- Melodie just has no patience for. Lily smiled at her and Mel gave a small, but completely forced smile in return.
As much as Mel hated to tolerate this girl, she was Head Girl and therefore needed her respect. Mel was, after all, a prefect. "Yes." Mel confirmed, politely. She kept her harsh words in and stepped from behind the flap. "Lily. Correct?" she said, mimicking the girls tone. Though she tried to make it seem as harmless as words could come.
She brushed a hand through her long blond hair and stood near the red-head awkwardly. Mel had to admit that this girl was pretty, her eyes beating it all though. The deep green, Mel hadn't seen before. As the slytherin sent her peircing eyes over the Gryffindor, she could tell there was something wrong.
"Anything the matter?" Mel asked, softening her tone. If anyone from slytherin knew about this, she would lose all respect that she has. Though, something in Mel's shut-down heart told her it was the right thing to do.
