Lily Evans was not fond of those things that may be considered immature or childish, and this was just one of those things. However, Lily didn't have much choice, now did she? She was the Head Girl, and the Heads and Prefects were supposed to make the students who did want to participate feel better. They were all stuck in the same castle, afterall. So, with a not so happy sigh, Lily finished up the last of her costume.
Her costume was rather odd, seeing as who and what she was. She wore a fairy outfit. Her bright red hair and green eyes really brought out the pink glitter charmed on her face and the soft white wings transfigured to her back. She wore a pretty white dress with pink glitter on the white silk. She wore a pair of matching white sandals that showed her toes. her toenails were charmed to be pink with white glitter. She decided when she eyed herself in a mirror, that she looked pretty. But, not mature in any way. She shook her head.
She was about to wrap her arms around herself when she reminded herself she had glitter everywhere and she shouldn't ruin all of her hard work with some stupid gesture. She fixed her Head Girl badge on her costume, frowining at the way it looked. Unprofessional. She frowned again now that she remembered James would be forced to do this too. Of course, she was sure he would jump in anyway. He was the prankster. She reminded herself to keep her eyes out on him. Him and his friends, whom she was sure would gather around James Potter.
It was a rather noisy night. Screams and laughter were following the young seventeen year old everywhere. Shrills of giggles followed around. She sighed and tried to ignore it all the best she could, walking ahead of the noise as best she could. The castle was the worst, but she wasn't fond of the idea of going outside when she knew it was chilly out. She stood showing her pumpkin's bucket to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor as he dropped a single honeydukes chocolate into her bucket. She gave him a smile before tuning on the spot and making up her mind. She sighed.
She would have to go against her own wishes. She was going to go outside. There was one classroom and Hagrid's Hut available for this trick or treating thing, and she wanted to get away from as much as the noise as was possible. Maybe she'd even meet a friend out there. Her only wish now was to not run into James Potter or any of his pranking friends. She frowned at the idea of him making a fool of himself. The idiot. She shook her head and made her way out to the chilly night.
The cold air whipped right through to her skin and she shuddered. She moaned and made her way through to the Herbology classroom. The one farthest from that spooky forest she knew she would have to enter too. She rolled her eyes, hoping against hope for some sort of miracle to save her. Of course, Lily Evans was not stupid. She knew better than to hope that. She arrived at the classroom and like she always did she held out her bucket and a few treats plopped into her bucket.

"You look like your having fun" Severus said sarcastically, with a smirk on his face. He was of course teasing her. Severus was standing right by her. Severus hadn't seen her at all today, up until Right now. Yes Severus was out doing what all the other 'students' were doing, he was trick or treating. Then again it would look weird if he didn't. After all he was supposed to be a student.
It would be almost as weird, no sorry silly as he felt doing it.It wasn't just because Severus was usually a loner, or that Halloween wasn't his all time favorite, he had his reasons why it wasn't his favorite holiday. No that had nothing to do with it at all, well maybe possibly a little bit it did. He felt silly doing it because, technically he was an adult, That was the main reason, why he felt taht way. It just felt very weird to him, and well kinda stupid in a way almost.
He was dressed up as a vampire, not very creative, but whatever, Severus didn't care. In fact he felt really silly, being in a costume too, though he'd never admit it to anyone. I mean It was probably shocking enough that Severus was actually participating in this whole trick or treating thing. After all for the most part he just kept to himself.

The things James Potter did for Lily Evans.
He was standing in the head's bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror. He looked like an idiot. He was in a Prince's outfit for Halloween and he was going "trick or treating," whatever that meant. He had wanted to be something more scary and vicious, but then he had reWizard Lily once talking about fairytales and how her favorite was one called "Cinderella."
James had searched in the library for two hours before he could finally find the Muggle fairytale, then has read it, read it again, and began creating the Prince Charming outfit he was currently sporting. He hadn't liked the story; thought the Wizards fairytales were much, much better. After all, if Cinderells really had a fairy Godmother looking after her, why had the fat lady waited so long to help her, when she had been trapped in a house and forced to clean for years? And how could the Prince tell that the shoe fit, when obviously people shared the same foot size. James just didn't understand Muggles, but Lily liked the story.
Which brought him back to the bathroom, looking at himself in disgust.
Shaking his head, he strolled out of the bathroom in search for his Cinderella (who actually wasn't playing Cinderella, since she had no idea James was playing Charming.) He was supposed to meet her on the trick or treating route ten minutes ago but, in pure James fashion, he was late. He hoped Lily wouldn't be too angry with him or too far along in the treating process for him to be able to find her.
After another good ten minutes, he spotted her red hair in a very adorable fairy. Hey FAIRYtale. James always tried to get a connection between the two of them, even when there sometimes wasn't one. They were good couple and often called the "it" couple, but they had only been dating a little over a month. James had loved Lily since their first year, but Lily had never returned the feelings- James often found himself being turned down humiliatingly- until the year. His best friend, Sirius Black, had run away from his home- where they kind of treated him like Cinderella- and gone to live with James. James stopped being ignorant after that and has realized that, if he wanted Lily, he would have to make sacrifices. He deflated his head a bit and Lily had finally gotten to see the real James... and she liked it. They started dating shortly after they both got Head Boy and Girl and were forced to spend time together.
Someone was standing with her and James squinted to try and make out who it was. A vampire...? What the hell? That was Severus Snape! James narrowed his eyes again, this time in anger. Why was Lily always hanging around her? And why did Snivellus have to ruin their night? He approached them, coming up behind her and putting an arm around her.
"Hello, love. You look good," he said, looking her up and down and ignoring Severus. He kissed her on the mouth quickly and then looked at him. He reminded himself that Lily was present, and therefore he had to be civil. "Sniv-Severus," he said curtly. "May I ask why you are here?"

Lily twirled around instinctivly, only slightly startled by the voice that rang behind her. She knew, of course, who this voice belonged to. She'd known him for far too many years not to react instantly on his voice. As soon as she was facing him she regarded him. Her green eyes traveled over his costume and soon her features settled into a grin.
"Of course." She replied.
She lifted her eyebrows. While just seconds ago this may have seemed amusing, it was now regarded as odd and almost ironic even. He was dressing up, as a vampire, and he really wasn't just seventeen. He was a full grown adult in a teenagers body. This made the whole scene surreal in Lily's bright green eyes. She stepped back once and crossed her arms, her features now settling on a smirk.
"You look great Sev." She added.
Oh No!
His voice startled her, causing her to jump. Her mind reeled reminding her that she was actually supposed to be dating - him. What was she supposed to do? This wasn't right, and how in merlin's name could she have fogotten about him? Him and her? How everything was supposed to be? Her belly twisted, twisting in too many motions. She was supposed to marry him, bear his son. Oh merlin, what was she going to do?
Love? She regarded Severus warily, an apolegtic look cossing her features. She didn't like this. Especially with Severus around. She restrained from the reflex to slap James Potter when her brain again reminded her that she was indeed his girlfriend and this was supposed to be normal. However, as soon as he spoke again her checks reddened and she stepped back, again crossing her arms and glared at James Potter.
"James Harold Potter." She began, her green eyes hard. "What in merlin's name were you about to say?"

Severus laughed "Yeah yeah i know I look silly no sorry I FEEL silly. he said with a laugh. If he didn't participate like normal, they would have probably forced him to. For some reason they wanted all the students to take part. "Yeah you too" Severus said with a smile, when s he said h elooked great. He thought she did too. The fairy costume just fit her, he liked it.
Oh great Severus thought when he heard, and seen James. He knew it was bound to happen. He couldn't be in his younger selfs body, and not run into James. It was impossible. Severus ignored James callling Lily love. It wasn't like it would bother him too much anyway. He knew what was supposed to happen, so it wasn't a shock.
If he hadn't known before hand what was supposed to happen it would probably be worse. Severus knew what James was starting to say. It was nothing new. Seeing Lily get angry though was a tad bit amusing, but he didn't show it. "Oh I don't know what does it look like?" Severus replied answering his qusestion with a smirk on his face. It was obvious he was talking to Lily. Okay so Severus knew what James meant, but he couldn't help but to give a smart remark.

James was a Quidditch player; he had broken so many bones that he no longer even flinched when they were being painfully healed. His many late night conquest could actually be quite dangerous. Not to mention that he played around with a werewolf once a month. He wanted to dedicate his life to fighting the dark wizard of the world.
None of these things scared him, but Lily Evans did?
He winced when she said his full name, knowing immeadiately that he was in trouble. Good news, though, it could be worse. Lily always just shortened it to "Potter" when he was in deep. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the defense Lily put up for Severus and vaguely wondered if that defense ever came up in his honor. He doubted it, but he pushed the vulgar thought back and answered his girlfriend. After all, it not like Lily Evans and James Potter had never been in a row before.
"Just that I really liked Severus' costume," he recovered swiftly, holding back the urge to laugh at Snape's ridicules vampire outfit. He ignored Lily's real question and Snape even helped him by answering his question with a usual snide remark. James looked at Lily. So Snape could get away with rude comments, but not her own boyfriend?
James shook his head, then smiled. "If that's your best attempt at sarcasm," he said to Severus. "Then I feel very, very sorry for you."
He turned his back on Snape and looked at his girlfriend. He hoped she had cooled down from James' little slip up earlier. Hey, it was habit. "Lily, what's going on? Let's just go."

It hadn't taken but a few hours for Ismene to come up with her costume for the evening, and why she had chosen to dress as a pirate was beyond her mind right now. She had remembered back home, reading a book called Treasure Island her muggle friend had lended to her. Perhaps that was where she had got the inspiration for her character, Mene the cut-throat, a spin off of Morgan the cut-throat. Either way, Ismene looked quite convincing, and even had a sword fixed on her left side. It was her favorite part of the costume, no doubt about that.
Ismene had visited various professors and ghosts, collecting a treasure chest full of candy- yes, that's right- a treasure chest full. She had decided to go all out and instead of filling a bag or pillowcase, she filled a treasure chest. Sure, it started getting heavy after a while, but a simple levitation charm took care of that. And besides, it really added to the effect.
Right now, Ismene was walking by one of the greenhouses with a rum bottle in hand (filled with pumpkin juice, of course) when she heard voices inside. And she knew this wasn't the pumpkin juice talking. Walking around to the door, she opened it and stepped inside. However chilly it had been outside was instantly replaced with the warmth of the greenhouse, and Ismene was quite happy that she had chosen such a shirt to wear with this costume. At least, she was while she walked along the various plants.
"Lily, James! How nice it is to see you!" Mene could recognize them anywhere, what with James' glasses and mop of messy black hair, and Lily's flaming red locks. Clearing her throat, Ismene nodded in Severus' direction. "Good evening, Severus."
Taking another swig of her pumpkin juice, Ismene rested her right hand on the handle of her sword. "An' how're all you land lubbers tonight?" The fun part about costumes, Ismene concluded, was the character of them.

Lily grinned at Sev's words. Yes, he did look sort of silly. Of course, she didn't mind. She thought he looked nice silly. She wouldn't admit this, of course. No one else needed to know. Enough people already guessed the way she felt about him. Even after all these years of her ignoring him. People were impossible and too smart for their own good, in her opinon. She blew a few loose strands of her hair from her eyes. Her hair felt funny, no, everything felt funny being dressed as a fairy.
"Hm, you do." She agreed. "Aw, but I think you're great."
She knew it must be hard for him when James showed up, as if nothing had just happened. Severus hadn't seen James in years, not that James would know. And Severus had lost her to him. So, it wasn't hard to understand that seeing James had to be difficult for Severus, but she was glad that he was handling it like an - adult - she rolled her eyes as the word entered her thought. She reminded herself that it was because he was an adult.
She rolled her eyes when James answered her. She nodded in agreement when Severus answered James's stupid question. What was she supposed to do? She liked them both, no, that was an understatement. But, was it love like she had told Severus it was? Or was it less? She chewed lightly on her bottom lip. She was so confused. She was only seventeen, she wasn't even supposed to be thinking about this sort of thing! She should just be studying and training, nothing more. She shook her head. This was going to be difficult, and Lily wasn't sure of what she could do.
"Oi Potter!" She groaned. "Don't lie to me, okay? I know what you were about to say. And I don't want you saying it again, either!"
She crossed her arms. Why did he have to lie to her? He wasn't afraid of her, how could he be? He wasn't afraid of much else, and she knew she wasn't much to be afraid of in the first place. So, why on earth did he have to lie. That's when she noticed someone dressed as a pirate approach the three of them. She grinned suddenly, glad for the change of attitude and she turned her attention away from James. She knew the girl, of course.
"Hi Ismene! Nice to see you." She greeted. "Don't mind James."
She grinned at the girl. Upon further examination, Lily gave a single nod of approval at the girl's costume. Not only did it look nice, but Lily rather thought it captured her personality more than anything. It suited her, and she looked good in it too. Lily frowned. She didn't think she looked good at all, though there was a few people who told her otherwise. Lily didn't see herself as very attractive. The girl's voice and phrase tore her away from those thoughts and she found herself once again grinning.
"I'm doing great, erm, matey!" She giggled.

Severus didn't say anything else to James when he got there. He was amused though a little by James trying to cover up his tracks the way he had. Sure okay yeah Severus hated James, but as an adult he was no longer going go act the way he was when he was younger, or he would try to. Now sure there were times he accidently slipped, and he flipped out when james was mentioned in the future.
Severus nodded towards Ismene, when she walked over. "Evening" he replied with a nod. He wasn't going to be rude, and normally he wasn't. For the most part he usually just kept to himself, but when people talked to him he tried to be civil, unless of course it was one of the marauders. Not to say he didn't try, but there are times where he'd get an attitude with them. He was never the one who started it though, well at least not his adult self. He was sure in his past he h ad started a few good times. He was kind of glad someone else showed up, but he had to admit lily being mad could get very interesting.
